The Lord Of The Rings (1978)

As an avid lover of the modern-day trilogy, it was difficult to go into the 1978 film with an open mind but to not do so would be a total misuse of time, though comparable in places, the two are clearly miles part in terms of budget (4,000,000 vs 281,000,000), duration (132 vs 682 minutes) and effects (1978 vs 2003 release). Nevertheless, even with an initial pessimism the animated LOTR was surprisingly charming in places.
